Babe's Noodle Bar
Located on 10th Street just up from 5th Avenue. Also on 5th Ave between calle 28 & 30).
Babe’s Noodle Bar is fabulous. Don’t let the name fool you, there’s much more than Asian cuisine here. We recommend the Dorado (dolphin fish a.k.a. Mahi Mahi) with mushrooms and spinach on garlic mashed potatoes as well as the mango daiquiri to cool you off. The seafood rolls were a tasty appetizer. Cool vibe…very casual. Also, the ½ plate is a large enough serving to satisfy in addition to a shared appetizer. It’s worth it to wait for a table outside, as it gets very warm inside.

Blue Parrot
Located on the beach side, 3 bldgs down from Ocean Plaza on the right.
Opens at 6:30am for breakfast if you need to head out early on a tour or dive. Also, they have an EXCELLENT fire show at 11:30pm each evening. You can walk down and sit on the beach to enjoy or pay $10 cover to gain access to the dance floor and bar.

Buenos Aires Steakhouse
Located between la Quinta and 10th Avenue on 6th street (it’s on the right side across from a night club called Pure Night).
One of the best steaks I have had was at this place. The cut I had was called “Vacio” which I later learned was flank steak (probably why the price was nice, too).

Café Andrade
Located on 8th street at 20th (just 3 blocks up from 5th) across from the municipal government building.
Café Andrade is a very local place. Many government officials and locals frequent this café. Everything there is probably great, but we have grown very fond of something called a Bomba. It is a sweet bread roll filled with refried black beans. Add to it an order of ripe plantains (“platanos”) and make a sandwich with this [be sure to add some queso fresco (a fresh, white, soft cheese) and crema (whole cream)]. It sounds like a crazy combination, but it is delicious.

Coco Maya
Located immediately to the right of Ocean Plaza on the beach side.
You can walk over and let them know you would like to order off their menu (or just flag one of the waiters down as they walk by). They will bring you a menu, take your order and deliver your food to you on the beach or the patio.

Dr. Taco
Located on 10th Avenue (this is the main avenue on large block inland from 5th) between 8th and 10th streets.
Simple, soft tacos (try the fried shrimp) and you absolutely must adorn your tacos at the relish bar… the hot sauce is really hot. Excellent for lunch or a quick dinner on the cheap side.
